David Wayne Rice, of Pauls Valley, passed away September 9, 2013 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma at the age of 58 years.

David was born February 2, 1955 in Amarillo, Texas to Roy A. and Betty Jean (Persall) Rice. David was raised in Amarillo and is a graduate of the Amarillo High School. At the early age of 12 David became his church's main pianist. Music has always been an important part of his life. He continued his education by attending two years at the Amarillo Junior College and later earned his Degree in Pharmacy by attending Southwestern State University in Weatherford, Oklahoma.

He was married to Joyce Ann Chandler in Amarillo, Texas on June 12, 1976. They had lived in Levelland for 25 years before moving to Pauls Valley. He was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Levelland, Texas and attended Higher Ground for the past year and a half.

He was preceded in death by his parents and mother-in-law, Ola Louise Chandler.The Eagle, Globe and Anchor pin that has been placed with David is the original pin earned by his son, Scott, while in Boot Camp with the United State Marine's.

Surviving family include his wife, Joyce Ann, of the home; son, LCpl, Scott Rice, U. S. Marine Corp and his wife, Danielle Rice, of Levelland, Texas; four grandchildren, Alexis Marie, Kylee Micah, Dallas Juan and Tezrah Faith; father-in-law, James O. Chandler of Pauls Valley; two brothers-in-law, Dr. James Michael Chandler and his wife, Bonnie, of Celina, Texas, and Joe Wesley Chandler of Pauls Valley; one sister-in-law, Dr. Arlinda Kay Hodges and her husband, Mark, of Canon City, Colorado; four aunts, Joyce Payne, Donnie Persall, Frances Persall, and Kaye Wiegman and her husband, Birdette; one niece, Stacey Moore; two nephews, Lt. Col., Select, Ryan Moon, U. S. Air Force, and his wife, Dr. Gesa Moon, and Jonathan Chandler and numerous cousins.

Visitation is Wednesday afternoon from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM and from Thursday 9:00 AM to 1:30 PM.Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 12, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Stufflebean-Coffey Chapel of Remembrance officiated by Rev. Tim White and Rev. Billy Bowles. Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery under the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home.
